Everything you need to know about the rumoured iPhone SE 2
BY Jack Holmes January 17 2018
When iPhone SE came to market in March 2016 it became a cheaper machine that had the same levels of capability as the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Apple marketed it as the the most powerful 4‑inch phone ever. It was well received by the public for its well-known form factor and blueprint, upgraded hardware over precursory 4-inch iPhone models, as well as its overall performance and battery life.
As rumours suggest Apple will launch a new iPhone SE 2 in 2018 as a follow-up to 2016’s iPhone SE. If you favor your iPhone to be on the small-scale and budget-friendly side, then you may be delighted to hear that.
iPhone SE 2 release date
It’s impossible to determine on when Apple may reveal the iPhone SE 2 but tech observers believe it could be in March 2018, 2 years after iPhone SE was released.
iPhone SE 2 price
The current iPhone SE is available in 32GB and 128GB versions. In the US iPhone SE costs $399 for the 32GB model and it’s $449 for 128GB. We expect that the iPhone SE 2 prices will be similar to the precursor model when it launches.
iPhone SE 2 design
It is expected that the iPhone SE 2 will look more like the iPhone 8, while it is presumed to have smaller dimensions. One thing that is probable to change is the colors. Currently the iPhone SE is available in Gold, Rose Gold, Silver and Space Grey. The iPhone SE 2 is likely to come out in Silver, Gold, and Space Grey similar to the iPhone 8.
It might also feature a glass back – empowering it with wireless charging technology, a feature introduced with the iPhone X and iPhone 8. In this case the new iPhone SE 2 will look more like an all-glass iPhone 4.
There are also rumours that the new iPhone SE 2 might have an all screen design, like the iPhone X. But we believe it will take some time for Apple, before it introduce the home-button-free design to an entry-level iPhone.
iPhone SE 2 specifications
According to rumoured reports, the new iPhone SE 2 will have an A10 Fusion chip as in the iPhone 7. In addition, we might see a 7MP FaceTime camera with Retina Flash replacing the current 5MP FaceTime camera in iPhone SE.
Other than that, it is likely to keep many of the features of the current iPhone SE, such as:
- 12MP camera: (f/2.2, 29mm, 1/3″, 1.22 µm), phase detection autofocus, dual-LED dual-tone flash
- No camera bump
- 2GB RAM
- Storage options of 64GB and 128GB
- 1624 mAh battery: might be slightly raised to 1700mAh
- Touch ID
